Isunji is a self-described “word nerd” who is most content when she’s writing. Isunji was bitten by the writing bug in third grade when a homework assignment asked students to write a story. Isunji’s, The Trip To Mars, was the hit of the class, and a writer was born. Her gift was nurtured in high school, where she took advantage of opportunities to publish poems in the school’s literary magazine.
Isunji is an alumni of the Hurston-Wright Foundation’s Writer’s Week, which is an annual writing workshop where aspiring authors are nurtured. They are also instructed on the process and the business of writing by professionals in the publishing industry. She counts this experience as a confirmation that writing is her true calling.
Isunji’s life is like a story that is a work in progress with many chapters ahead. She holds the firm belief that a good story has power to bridge gaps, overcome differences, touch hearts and change the world!
