About Daisy:

Daisy is a writer at heart! She had her first ‘Letter to the Editor’ published when she was about 11 years old, and was Spelling Bee Champion for her elementary school at about the same time, and at one point worked as a public relations assistant with a major electricity company in Jamaica, where she was born and raised.

Throughout her bio readers will discover that Daisy has been a ‘serial career changer’. She just could not make an opportunity to expand her career pass her by. Careers have ranged from confidential secretary, executive assistant, public relations assistant, college instructor, career coach, professional resume writer, interview coach and author. Most of what she does centres around some form of writing, and she intends to focus more of her energy on writing job search and career articles. She tells people that when she needs to relax, she writes!

Daisy is the author of “No Canadian Experience, Eh? A Career Success Guide for New Immigrants”, a first-of-its kind book dedicated to skilled professionals moving to, or are already in Canada and finding it difficult to navigate the Canadian job search landscape. She is currently writing another book, “Tell Stories, Get Hired: An Innovative Approach to Finding and Keeping a Job” with contributions from a select group of career professionals. Her work has been featured in several renowned resume and career books such as Interview Magic, Expert Resumes for Baby Boomers, Same-Day Resume, No-Nonsense Cover Letters, the Quick Resume and Cover Letter Guide, Resumes for the Rest of Us and No-Nonsense Job Interviews. She has also been profiled in the Spotlight on Communicators Career Coach section of the college text book, Business Communication: Product & Process (5th Edition), which includes some renowned individuals like Oprah, Michael Dell, Diane Sawyer and Colin Powell.

Daisy is founder and Chief Career Strategist at The Wright Career Solution a full-service career transition firm, providing job search coaching (resume design, interview preparation, career transition) to individuals within Canada, the US and International. For individuals in career transition and are uncertain about which path to take, she assists them in developing positive career management skills, improve their employability and enhance their self-esteem. She is often told that her positive “can do” approach inspires confidence in others.

She is a Certified Career Management Coach, holds a BA in Public Administration from Ryerson University, a Post-graduate Certificate in Career Development from Conestoga College and was awarded a prestigious 2011 Alumni of Distinction recognition by the College. For two years, she was the Career Advisor for CBC Radio Canada International’s The Link, and is also a 2011 Zonta Women of Distinction Nominee.

Her corporate background is fairly wide and includes a stint with the United Nations in New York where she learned what a formal classroom could not offer…an opportunity to meet, understand and work with people from a variety of cultures. She is a former instructor in the Faculty of Business’ Executive Administration Program at Sheridan College where she taught Business Communication among other courses.

Daisy has been interviewed as a subject matter expert by numerous media organizations including the Globe & Mail, Toronto Star, Brampton Guardian, Share Newspaper, Caribbean Camera, Job Boom, South Asian Focus, the National Magazine of the Career Development Association of Australia.

She places a high value on continuous professional development for herself and the clients she serves. In order to better serve the people she works with, she attends industry conferences and workshops, participates in teleseminars and networking activities, and maintains membership in professional organizations such as Career Directors International and Career Professionals of Canada. She is also an advisor to Career Professionals of Canada, and the Canadian Liaison for WECAI (Women’s E-Commerce Association International, where she was included as one of the Top 100 Who’s Who Among Women in Ecommerce for 2012.
