Deep in the Jungle lived a Tiger family, momma tiger, papa tiger and two brother tigers. They were very happy in the jungle and there was so much to eat, places to play and a nice cool stream. When the brother tigers were very young, their parents taught them how to play and how to hunt. Playing was very important because it taught you hunting skills. Learning to hunt and share was a very important part of growing up so that a family could survive.
Felix and Max were very happy playing but no matter how hard their parents tried, they had not been able to teach them to hunt and share. They were constantly getting into trouble, and when they had something to eat, “they would cobble up as much as they could before anyone else could have some”. Eating so much, made them fat and lazy and “They were constantly sleeping in the shade while others were playing and learning”. Summer brought less rain and it was getting harder to find food to eat, so the tiger family had to travel.
Traveling brought new dangers, so momma and papa had to be careful and watch them constantly.
One day while in a new part of the jungle, Felix and Max had just eaten too much and laid down to take a nap. The other tigers were playing or learning to hunt, when a strange loud rumbling came through the jungle. Everyone was nervous but Felix and Max were fast asleep, and did not hear a thing. All of a sudden a large herd of elephants came charging through the jungle and all the tigers had to run. Felix and Max woke up to see what the noise was and saw the big elephants coming after them.
