Bestselling and traditionally-published authors start own independent publishing company

Reshonda Tate Billingsley and Victoria Christopher Murray are two bestselling authors who are traditionally published by Simon & Schuster. They have 30 books published between them with over 2 million copies sold.

What’s next for these literary veterans?

Brown Girls Publishing (BGP) is the new publishing venture that Billingsley and Murray are undertaking together. Don’t let the name fool you, Billingsley and Murray will be publishing a wide variety of genres with a focus on quality over quantity, and BGP already features a roster that includes male authors and white authors.

BGP will focus on using digital marketing strategies and social media to grow its readership. The new publishing company will debut with four releases in February and will continue to release four titles a month going forward in the future.
